Performance golf clothing
Today’s golf clothing focuses more on performance rather than making a fashion statement. But, alot of times, style and performance converge in a very nice way.
At golf tournaments, weather is always a factor in what you see the pro golfers wear. Windy weather will have golfers wearing the usual pullovers and sweater vests. However, as the day goes on, players get hot and that will affect performance. Some players, anticipating this, will wear a light golf polo shirt and a long sleeved undershirt for insulation. The contrasting colors results in a nice two tone look. Not only does the golf clothing show a new bold look, but it also allows the players to remain comfortable on the golf course.
Sergio Garcia played in a bright green Adidas golf polo shirt and a white turtle neck underneath. And the day before, he had on an orange golf polo shirt and a red long sleeve shirt underneath that. Book Weekley used a camouflage print long sleeve shirt under his golf polo. Resulting in several onlookers thinking he was covered with tattoos on his arms.
This layering approach, allows for freedom of movement and flexibility for when the weather conditions change throughout the day. Back in the day, golf was considered unhip and clothing was rather dorky. These days, younger golfers have have taken their style on the golf course and influencing the look of golf clothing. The younger professionals, like Sergio Garcia, Tiger Woods, and the like are moving towards bolder looks and designs. This new look, is inviting, and helps bring in the younger crowd to play golf and learn this great sport.
