Tiger Woods and Nike
When one thinks of golf, one can’t help but think of Tiger Woods. Born December 30, 1975, Tiger has taken professional golfing to the next level and helped to breathe new life into what many considered to be an “old man’s” sport.
Since arriving on the professional golf scene in 1996 at the age of 20, Tiger has taken the golfing world by storm with his record setting performances and never give up attitude. His list of professional accomplishments is impressive to say the least. Tiger is to golf what Michael Jordan was to basketball.
His official golf debut in a less professional setting was on the Mike Douglas show at age 2, putting with Bob Hope. At age 3, he shot a 48 for nine holes. One might say Tiger Woods has a natural talent.
Tiger Woods has broken a string of records since going pro. One record that he is most proud of is being the first major championship winner of African or Asian heritage. He was only 21 years old when he accomplished this great feat.
Having such a strong presence in the golf community and serving as a role model for young athletes worldwide, there’s no doubt that Tiger Woods was approached by many sponsors seeking endorsements. Ultimately, Tiger chose to endorse Nike for not only his golf apparel, but also his clubs and golf balls.
According to Nike, in 2008, Tiger came to them requesting a specific clothing line. Tiger wanted clothes that looked good both on and off the course. Nike obliged with the introduction of the Tiger Woods Platinum Collection which were available at premium stores across the UK. This design has a “no sew” concept that gives a sleek appearance and reduces weight and bulk in the collar and pockets. This “no sew” technology is brand new and developed specifically for Tiger’s line.
Tiger’s professional success also carries over into his personal life. He married in 2004 and became a father for the first time in 2007. His second child arrived in 2009. His workout routine includes cardio, weight training and playing golf in an effort to improve his game. He does not rest on his laurels; he is constantly striving to improve.
Tiger Woods not only commands the respect of other great golfers in the world, but he earns it. He is a gentleman both on and off the course and has truly earned the title of the greatest golfer ever. He has been an excellent role model for young athletes and non-athletes alike and has shown the world what results when one combines hard work and dedication.
